What I learned this weekend.

I have learned to say hey, your zipper is open! Hey, I saw your mother hovering over you as you were reading your poem next to the ocean. Hey, you’re right! I don’t speak THE English very well. It must be because I took naps behind the AV desk in middle school, dreaming of SRA and speech labs in another country. But I landed here, in North America. I learned to say Thank you. How are you? Will you keep in touch? I learned to walk to the ocean and anoint my forehead. I learned cold. I learned color and looking at the back of my wrists. I learned to listen to 1000 seagulls wanting to scratch their way inside my hotel room. I learned bellyup, tripover, courage. I learned you and you and I. I learned that Bibles make great drinking coasters.
